Celebration Evening 2019

Sutton SSP celebrated their 2nd annual Celebration Event On Wednesday 11 September at Hackbridge Primary School. The evening celebrated all the phenomenal work of our schools in Sutton and their dedicated PE Coordinators who work tirelessly to raise standards of Physical Education, Physical Activity and Sport in their schools.

We would like to thank Tom Brake MP for presenting our ‘Record Braker’ awards which are given for excellence in whole school provision of PE, PA, Health and Sport. Congratulations go to all our winners but a special mention to Hackbridge Primary who received our first 4* award.

Jack and Alfie from Carshalton Boys did a fantastic job at ‘hosting’ and the Junior Supremos – ex Cheam Fields pupils spoke about their experiences of being a leader and the impact it had made on their self-esteem and communication skills. Well done to both groups – who were articulate and confident.

We had a presentation from Gary Palmer, Specialist Adviser for Children and Young People for London Sport who spoke about physical activity and its importance for all of us.

We presented our School Games Mark Awards and were very proud to have achieved 3 Platinum Awards – Carshalton Boys Sports College, Westbourne and Barrow Hedges and awards to 6 schools for the School Games Values.

We were very proud to welcome two Councillors, Marian James and Chris Williams, Chair and Vice Chair of the People committee, David Gentles, our Relationship Manager from London Sport and John I’Anson from AfPE. Our message to all is spread the word, physical activity is essential for a healthy life, keep up the hard work Sutton because we are in a good place.
