Two massive primary tag rugby events were held at The John Fisher School in the autumn. The first was aimed at Y5/6 and comprised of the LYG pathway event which was played under Rugby League rules. This competition featured entries from A&B teams and ran alongside the a Megafest event for pupils new to the game. Congratulations to Cheam Park Farm who won the A team section and will represent Sutton in the LYG Spring Finals. Cheam Common were victorious in the B section & will have the opportunity to represent Sutton at the new LYG NFL festival also held in the spring.
The Y3/4 festival followed a week later. The first half of the morning was comprised of a rugby lesson – run by the excellent and knowledgeable John Fisher sports leaders. After a short break, all the teams had the chance to put their new found knowledge into practice playing against some of the other schools in some relaxed, coached games. No winners were declared, but during both rugby events, the School Games values of Self Belief & Determination were awarded. Special mention must also go to Muschamp Primary who brought 84 pupils to the two events!
Huge thanks go to The John Fisher School for helping us deliver two rugby events that saw over 300 pupils enjoying Tag Rugby.
